On either side of the Chicago River, there are numerous grade changes that may be accessed on foot using sturdy steel stairs. I suspect these were all built in the 1950s and 60s as the industrial heritage downtown gave way to more commercial and residential land use. The sight-lines are very good - the Wrigley Building in view - and overall I appreciate the pedestrian infrastructure in this part of Chicago.
