through the round window

a lovely stroll round the gardens and house at polesden lacey in surrey. this beautiful house was owned by maggie greville, who became an important socialite of the edwardian era. she offered polesden to george vi and the queen mother for their honeymoon and they spent 10 days there. my mother is a volunteer flower arranger and it was fun to see her handiwork, and explore some of the secret rooms and passages of the house. the garden is a bit fallow at this time of year, but there are still some nice architectural touches
Knew I recognised this, I have one very similar!!! I love the story of how NT got house and not HRH!! How lucky to see hidden parts. Great framing of that wonderful sundial
