The dragon in the gateway by pistonbroke

The dragon in the gateway

When you look carefully, Wrest Park has lots of delightful details. This dragon is mounted on one of a pair of garden gates and barely noticed by people passing through. It's small, about 15cm (6 inches) across. The other gate also has a dragon, but of a different design to this one. It's admirable that the designer took the time and trouble to make them different. The crest of the De Grey family (who lived at Wrest Park) was a dragon, so this obviously alludes to that. After being neglected for many years, the gates have been restored by English Heritage as part of the ongoing garden restoration programme. The dragons are now resplendent in gold.
A great capture and so well spotted.

Handsome dragon - I'm rather partial to them. I wonder if one of them is Welsh and the other Chinese?!

@lellie @quietpurplehaze @taz_o @beryl @thresheg Thank you for all your kind comments. That's the end of Wrest Park for a while, but I am planning something for later in the year. My next special project is the self-portrait that I post every 100 pics. Number 300 is coming up - only 6 to go!
