los venados

It sounds so much prettier in Spanish, no? Taken over the weekend, but processed today. That counts right? I just can't keep up with a daily shot anymore, so I've had to adjust my original goal, else I'll never make it through the next 6 months.

Rough day today. I should be on my way to Bishop, CA right now for my friend Norma's services tomorrow. It's nearly a seven hour drive, and after hours of waffling this morning, I decided it best to stay home. I desperately want to be there, but sitting in a car that long without pain medication is impossible for me right now, and I'd have to make the trip alone. So today I am sad, and truth be told, having a bit of a pity party. It's hard not being able to do the things I want to do because of physical pain and limitations, yet I realize too I am so much luckier than many.

Hope your week is going well dear 365ers.

As always, Peace....
This is an awesome photo! Great capture! Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Brilliant photo, and i LOVE the processing.... hope you have had some pain meds and are relaxing on the couch about now!
May 17th, 2011
Great shot! A definite favorite.
May 17th, 2011
How about los oídos!! them ears just make me smile... Love how you get across their timidity here.

Swearing lots reading about your day... I like Joan Armatrading 'and if you sad then let them tears roll down' and I don't think expressing justifiable sorrow is 'pity party'. It must be so frustrating to have all your energy and will thwarted So hope tomorrow brings cheer ...in the meantime just look at those deers' ears for a smile!! They even look quite sympathetic, no? :-))

OH WOW...Heather...you are a genius....sorry about your friend...and you made the right choice....she knows that you are thinking about her...or at least that is what i really want to believe about the after life...
May 17th, 2011

May 17th, 2011
Wonderful shot and processing! Really give yourself a break and don't worry about taking shots daily - editing totally counts as a daily effort. This shot is another fav by the way, I love your work so much!
May 17th, 2011
i'm so sorry you won't be going to your friends service, but you definitely can't put your body through those 7hrs in a car. i know that you will have her in your thoughts and near your heart. and yes venados does sound lovely...great shot and awesome processing

May 17th, 2011
HEAAAAAATHER!!!!!!!!!! *Smooches* This photo is so strikingly good, it makes me wanna cry. And, I don't know why. (I rhyme for you.) You have such a huge heart, and sweet soul. Be good to yourself. I hope you start to feel some relief soon. I don't know what it's like to have chronic pain, but I imagine it can be so very wearing physically AND emotionally. Chin up!
May 17th, 2011

May 17th, 2011
Heather! I just love this! I think it is one of my all time fav's of yours...so fantastical! So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and good for you for taking care of yourself...funerals are for the living, she knows you care, I believe that wholeheartedly. I hope your pain improves very soon my lady, I wish there was some magic spell I had in my possession to cure what ails you :(. That you can create something this beautiful in the midst of a health crisis speaks volumes about your talent...my hero!

May 18th, 2011
amazing shot-sorry for the loss and pain you have right now..God bless and feel better :)
May 18th, 2011
Someone I respect greatly once told me to think sweet thoughts when someone departs this earth. It helps send them off, properly. So close your eyes for a few minutes, and help your friend have a nice bon voyage. Your physical presence, as mentioned above, is for the physically present. A loss for you and those who made it, but your friend will no doubt understand and appreciate your heart felt attention. Best wishes.

These two long-eared locust
are prairie dogging. ;o)
May 18th, 2011
I just love this Heather-you still manage to capture beauty despite the pain you are going through which says so much about you. Norma would understand so stay at home, have a drink in her honour and celebrate the special times you had together. Take care
May 18th, 2011
Oh Miss Lady- I am sorry that you are feeling poorly, physically and emotionally! This however is a fantastic shot!! Both the composition and perspective- not to mention the bad ass processing! You ROCK! FAVEEEE!! Will be praying for your healing :D
May 18th, 2011
Your friend would completely understand & wouldn't want you to suffer trying to be there so you definitely made the right choice to stay home. Like Penny said, raise a glass and think of all the special times you had together x
May 18th, 2011
So sorry you can't go. This is a FANTASTIC shot! Love it!

That is a funny word in Spanish, is cool.
Beautiful capture!
May 18th, 2011
I love this shot. The deer are so cute peeking over the tall grass.
May 18th, 2011
Yeah but it is still ok to feel upset because you cant do what you want to do..... Been there... is there any surgery you can have that will help?

And in your head you know you can say goodbye to Norma where ever you are.. but it still would have been nice to be able to be with her family and friends to say goodbye together... to share stories.. raise your glass, and just generally be round people who knew her...so let the pity party begin ..
Here is my shoulder if you need it... : :)
Take care...
May 18th, 2011
I like this shot a lot, Heather. Everything about it. I saw exactly this image out the car window several years back, in a field in Maryland, and was SO bummed that I couldn't stop and photograph it. Now I don't have to think about it any more and can just revel in yours.
May 18th, 2011
I love how you were able to capture and process this shot!
May 18th, 2011
May she rest in peace ... and may you find peace in your rest. Norma's in your heart no matter where you are, so you don't have to be in CA to say goodbye. Strength to you.

FAV'd!!! Simple. Cute. Textural. Tonal. Just beautiful. Love it.

Oh, my goodness... This just has to be a fav for me!!! I love everything about it--those ears with the perfect lighting, the field of flowers, the sense of endlessness... I usually prefer color, but the sepia tones are perfect for this!!! Awesome shot, lady!!!

I'm so sorry for you pain and sadness. I really felt bad reading your narrative. I hope today is a better day. . .being in pain constantly just sucks.
May 18th, 2011
I didn't understand the full meaning of the word "service" in your caption at first but now I do. I'm so sorry for your loss. Especially now I know how painful it is to lose someone close to you. I feel for you and send my warmest thoughts over!
May 18th, 2011
So sorry that you are suffering this loss and pain. Know that you have many 365 friends who think of you and send you strength each day. I love what you've captured here... and I don't think a photo from a few days ago is a problem. I don't know that I could go the distance either without the occasional flash back shot.
Rest girl ... and keep these inspirational photos coming. They will give you strength!
May 18th, 2011
What a bummer Heather, break out the whiskey and let the pity party rock.
Fantastic shot by the way :)
May 18th, 2011
When you're feeling better, you can always go somewhere special to you and do your own thing for Norma. Big hugs xx
