Today, I made a star-shaped bokeh filter. Let me tell you, it was sooo easy to use with my 1.4. :) The somewhat hazy effect over the image is, I presume, a result of the filter interfering with the light hitting the sensor (and not a part of post-processing).

Cool effect. The hazy image is due to diffraction from the narrow aperture your star filter added in front of the lens. The same thing happens when a lens is set to an aperture narrower than it's diffraction limit(depends on number of elements, focal length and lens coatings). The wave form nature of light revealed. Looks like fun to play with, another project for future.
