I was hoping to get out and take a pretty snowy photo for Dec. 27, but that was not to be. I had another vaccine on Boxing Day (flu this time) so I'm all fevers and swollen glands etc again. Chris and I were planning to try and get outside a bit anyway, but just as we were headed out the door our region was put on a Shelter in Place order. Sadly, a young police officer working his first solo shift had been shot and killed in a nearby community; the suspects fled in an unknown direction and our provincial police issued an emergency order to keep us all safe and out of the way while they tracked the armed and dangerous suspects.
So, it was a day in the house for us. I looked around for something to photograph and thought I'd share these beautiful homemade desserts that someone dropped off for our family (before the Shelter order). On the left is a white cupcake with raspberry jam filling and a whipped cream frosting, topped with white chocolate and fresh raspberries; I'm not sure what to properly call the one on the right, but it's a sort of cakey/pudding thing... It's white cake soaked in evaporated milk (I think) with a whipped cream frosting, garnished with chopped pistachio and rose petals!
Chris pointed out that the raspberry on the far left is a little bit heart shaped.
