The moon is looking pretty crazy tonight! I took this photo in the wee hours, but it's red again tonight, too... Though maybe darker and duller than it was in this picture.
We aren't completely sure what's going on with the moon, but we figure it must be all the wildfires-- southwestern Ontario is not burning, but our risk level is Extreme and we're all on high alert with fire bans, etc. In the northern and southeastern parts of our province there are a number of wildfires right now, and the next few provinces to the east of us are battling wildfires as well. I haven't heard much about what's happening with wildfires in the western provinces lately, but they certainly had issues with them last month.
Everything is hazy here, which we've experienced before, but I can't remember the moon ever looking quite this red. The hazy sky seems to give it a strange corona effect and block out the starlight as well, which I think makes it even eerier.
