Ten Thousand Buddhas Sarira Stupa

This stupa is the farthest afield of the Sacred Places I've visited this month, and I don't anticipate doing anything farther away before the month is out. It's located in Niagara Falls, right along the Niagara River Parkway (the road that runs along the edge of the gorge), very close to one of the bridges to the USA.

This stupa is sort of a focal point in a larger fenced/walled complex that also houses another building of some kind (this one large and low-- I think it's a museum building) along with traditional style gates, bells, statuary, etc. It is open to the public, though it was not open while we were there this time and I have never been inside. The gates were shut so I just snapped a few pictures from outside the fence.

The seven-storey stupa houses 10,000 statues of the Buddha as well as a sarira (a specific type of relic of his body). It is dedicated to a vision/mission of world peace, including "an end to cruelty and wars across the world."
