Mighty oaks... by psychographer

Mighty oaks...

...from tiny acorns grow. Some of you may know, some of you may not but I have spent the last five years studying for a psychology degree. I am currently on my seventh and penultimate module. Since January this year I have written six assignments including two reports, designed an experiment, been to a week long residential school and carried out the experiment on real life participants (well fellow psych students but I think it still counts ;o))
Now begins the hard work of revising for the exam in October. What I really want is to become a mighty oak and I still feel like a tiny acorn :o)
keep going - you are so close to being a mighty oak !!! love this shot

You have worked SO HARD, Lisa! You are getting close to the end! You will be so glad you toughed it out all this time! I love the white space underneath the acorn. It is so cool looking. Some bokeh balls too. Just really pretty pic! Go you!

Wow that is what I call dedication, you should be extremely proud of what you have achieved so far, is it just the one exam in Oct or do they drag it out? How you manage to fit in 365 as well is a mystery to me! I think this is a fab shot and well worth a fav.

You are strong! Love your picture. I can't wait to figure out how to get the circle lights. I think Marybeth, @espyetta called them bokeh balls! I will google that! Acorns remind me of my days raising children and praying they would be strong oaks!

You do such magical things with your images!!! This is so amazingly beautiful, and I have no doubt you will become the mightiest oak in the grove. FAV!!

@digibugchic Hi Cindy. Bokeh is created when you have a shallow depth of field (DOF) In this case the acorn is in focus and the background isn't. This was achieved with a wide aperture. If you go to the right of my image and click on Exif it will show you the settings I had my camera on at the time. For this shot my aperture was wide open with an f-stop of 2.2. I hope this helps but please feel free to get in touch if there's anything else I might be able to help with :o) xx
