River crossing, Savannah Way by pusspup

River crossing, Savannah Way

I thought you might be interested to see one of the many river crossings from our outback journey. The first few were a bit daunting, but after a while, we confidently launched into them and I'm pleased to say, had no issues (not even with crocodiles as we stayed in the car at all times!).
Fabulous shot and scene, with the right car everything is possible. On my own I would not have the guts to try though, would be petrified to be stuck! Not a chance of many people passing by to help ;-)

I come from a partnership where we ventured into so many difficult areas! I also had to stand on our car's roof to get mobile coverage when we were totally stuck in one of those river crossings!

Wow you are braver than I am, it looks quite daunting.

That does look daunting, but fun!

Daunting I think is the right word! I suppose if you have the right car…..

Where abouts on the Savannah Way was this Wylie

Wow, I admire your courage. It's not easy to decide that you can cross over all that water especially not knowing how deep it is.

@terryliv Between Borroloola and Hells' Gate. There were plenty of water crossings on the Savannah way, but fortunately none too deep while we were there.

Fantastic! Reminds me of my trip to Peru many years ago, except you need to add a sheer drop-off on one side. ;)

Wow. That's a real slippery looking hill to go up on the other side.

@pusspup Often wondered about whether we could manage that road but it looks like you need a proper 4WD

Wow- so adventurous. I'd be hesitant now, but when I was younger I probably would have tried it! Good shot!

@pusspup We did west to Normanton and Karumba a couple of years ago but chickened out on the run from Normanton to Burketown and went south to Mt Isa instead. Went to Boroloola this last trip by accident

@terryliv you did very well to get that far. No one goes to Borroloola by accident!! ha ha ha
