Aristolochia gigantea (Brazilian Dutchman's Pipe, Giant Pelican Flower; syn. Aristolochia sylvicola Standl.) is an ornamental plant native to Brazil, typical of Bahia and Minas Gerais vegetation. It has spectacular but foul smelling flowers and can be grown from seeds or by cuttings ( Wikepedia )
After spending some wonderful time with my family with Christmas I`m back.

Great shot! Whenever, I see this type of plant, I think it is interesting. Then, I smell it and I can't wait to get out of the plant conservatory.

beautiful pattern in the flower - my grandmother grew just the ordinary kind of dutchman's pipe which produced a nice shaded area on her porch

What a beautiful plant, the lovely purple colour and the patterns on the petals which look almost like material. Good thing we can't smell it!

As pretty as it looks but if it has a bad fragrance I rather just see it and not smell it.
