Often the borders of a field is seeded with wild flowers to pleased the bees and other insects. (To be seen in front of this pic.)
Once every four/five years the farmer grow a plant to manure the soil. The insert is this plant . A kind of Pea. They brings phosphate into the soil . It`s also a precaution for plant illness.
Fav - lovely, beautiful scene! I like the idea of the plant being protection against disease. It reminds me of the custom in France of planting a rose bush at the end of a row of vines for the same reason.
