We went to look at cars and for a test drive in the New Forest today. I took my camera along, just in case, and was lucky to find some ponies and to find them where we could stop the car. Just before I took this photo, they had all walked staight across a busy road. There is a speed limit but, inevitably perhaps, a number of them are killed in traffic accidents each year. http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/add-ins/2013-12-29
I just love this as it reminds me of a holiday I had years ago when my daughter was about 12 or 13 and we went riding in the New Forrest. It was great and this is a lovely composition - Fav
A lovely pic. of the ponies but I think they have to make provisions to avoid any collision. It`s not only dangerous for the horses also for the car and the people in it. A big/long fence ?
The New Forest is a huge area of forest and moorland, now a national park. No possibility to fence the ponies in and they just roam freely. There are some cattle too. When the acorns fall from the trees, pigs are put into the forest to eat them because they are poisonous to ponies - this is called 'pannage'.
