I went out for a civilised lunch at Wickham with my friend, Sylv, today. After I'd dropped her at home, and as my route was really right past the South Pond, I decided to pay my friend the goose a visit.
I've learnt her routine now: spot a human on the bank, swim over, get out of the water, take a few steps forward, spread wings and have a flap, turn back to the edge of the bank, slide elegantly into the water, and swim away.
So this time I was ready for the moment.
Maybe because I didn't think of it as aggressive! (I've been told this is a domestic goose dumped (with six ducks) on the pond by somebody.) I did see two geese hissing at two little dogs near a lake once and the dogs' owner had to pick them up and carry them past in order to carry on her walk.

Thanks! And funny you should say that as I almost typed swan instead of goose when I wrote my commentary!
Oh I hadn't thought of that!
I've convinced myself that it's a goose not a gander but I really don't know. I don't know either about the AFLAC duck?!
