All are this season's flowers, starting with the snakeshead fritillaries in our garden. The orchid is mine but the other blooms I found here and there, in friends' and neighbours' gardens.
I read in my trusty daily newspaper that lilac and lavender have become 'the make-up staples for the season'. But the caveat is not to wear them on eyes, lips and nails all at once.
Much as I love purple, I think I'll pass on all of that.
