Photo 1255
visiting Thomas Hardy's birthplace
The path to this cottage in Higher Bockhampton where Hardy was born winds up and down and around corners for about half a mile through the woods.
Here Hardy wrote 'Far from the Madding Crowd' - not to know how famous it would become.
I liked the dog kennel outside the front door!

What a beautiful cottage in such a serine place, it's a pity that the scaffolding was there but I expect maintenance is always needed.

I agree about the scaffolding and thought about cloning it out but when I looked at the size of the task, I decided not to bother!

Understand what you say and the shot is cropped a bit on that side which caused me to lose some of the ivy covered wall in the foreground - didn't want to lose it all - or make the shot a funny shape!
