I found this bright flower growing in the arboretum. It's indigenous to N America and is related to citrus bergamia:
"best known for lending its strong flavour to Earl Grey tea. But, within its herbal family is another species of bergamot called Monarda (also known as bee balm, oswego, and horse mint) which has strong antiseptic properties within the stalks, leaves, and flowers."
I believe that bergamot is addictive. This could be why we drink Earl Grey every day in our house. It has to be in china mugs.
So pretty! We have the lavender ones around here, as you might have seen in some of my shots. I'm glad to know what they're called - they are everywhere this time of year (and I never even noticed them before 365!). :)
What a beautiful bright, vivid flower and the color is amazing!! Fantastic details and lighting and thanks for the info. I love to learn new things!! FAV!
How did your strawberry jam and cheese scones turn out? That sounds sooooooooooo good!!
Only one scone left which I guess speaks for itself. (They are always well received.) I was thinking of posting a shot of the strawberry jam so I shall do that later! It looks very pretty but the test will be if it leaves the toast before getting to our mouth!!!
Funny , or a nice coincident. Ina + I visit an arboretum 07-22 In Belgium , near Brussels. We both took +/- 300 shots most of the beautiful flowers. Love tis one , great colors and a great capture
