I was surprised to see this wasp on the flowers of the fatsia japonica plant in our garden a couple of days ago..
This year there were hardly any wasps here in their favourite month of August. I remember those childhood picnic days in the country or at the seaside when they menaced the sandwiches and other goodies, everyone flapping hands etc to try to get rid of them.
Fabulous close up and such a beautiful shot. We have got a mud wasp making a nest under the eaves of our house. I can hear it buzzing from time to time as it builds.
Good shot
Now I wondering about the difference between a mud wasp and just a wasp.
He was actually rather small and insignificant - the illusory nature of photography!
