On Good Friday we went for a short drive to Easton, a picturesque village in the countryside near us, for a walk with Jinks. We stuck to the paths in the village, not wanting to get muddy boots and paws walking over the fields.
It was a bit early when we were ready for coffee so Ray asked in The Chestnut Horse Store. Fiona was doing one of her occasional shifts working in this little village shop, which does not actually serve drinks but very kindly went into the pub and made us a cup. We found cake in the shop and sat outside in the sun.
Then I wondered if Fiona would agree to participate in my stranger's project so I went in and asked. She was a bit hesitant but agreed and I took a few shots in different places inside the Store, providing a bit of entertainment when I walked backwards to frame a shot and nearly fell into a wheelbarrow arrangement of fruit.
Jinks got a bowl of water, plus a doggy biscuit from behind the counter, broken in two because of those 10 teeth he lost recently.
Fiona used to work in medical records in the NHS and has lived locally for a number of years. She told me that she dislikes cooking. She loves being on holiday 'anywhere hot'.
We'll remember the pub, The Chestnut Horse, for lunch in the summer, although dogs are welcome inside, always good to know.
