It's pouring with rain, windy and grey and I think this photo has no merit for flash of red February 2018 other than it IS in b&w.
However if, like me, you enjoy having an inquisitive look at other people's reading predilections, you might possibly give it a glance.
On my bedside table is Kate Atkinson's A God in Ruins. Any recommendations for future bedtime reading welcomed.
In an interview in today's newspaper about his solo Paris exhibition, David Goldblatt speaks about colour/b&w photography ........"there is a sort of tension in black and white that I find endlessly frustrating, irritating, moving and ultimately rewarding. The viewer's mind, even subconsciously, has to fill in the gaps."
Your choice of reading is wonderful, and I which I could fit more into my schedule! Let's be honest...I don't stay focused as well as I should or I might have a few more useful hours in a day!
Interesting capture and choice of reading material Hazel. I'm not one for bedside reading all I have on my bedside cabinet is an alarm clock and a telephone:)
Some familiar tomes in there, including yours, of course. I am currently reading The Yorkshire Shepherdess. If you ever enjoyed James Herriot, she is a great read. Her name is Amanda Owen.
Can't agree with him... it's colour that frustrates me because its like a veil hiding the important stuff! Just look at the fabulous clarity in this shot... stripping away the colour has done that!
David, I thought the same as you about the clarity of this stack of books and then I thought it is perhaps just the subject matter and it would be equally clear in colour..... I think Goldblatt is actually on the same side as you (I had to read his comment twice) as he says that b&w is .......'moving and ultimately rewarding'. I know that you and I will always agree to differ on this point but it's interesting for me to understand reasons for preferences. (I'm halfway through flashofred 2018 and, as in the previous 3 years I've participated, beginning to feel in a bit of a b&wstraitjacket and in need of colour, hence some days I am also posting {in colour} in my 2nd album.)
Thank you, will seek it out. (I may have been adding a bit of info about a Paris exhibition while you were commenting.)
Thank you for your comment and I have to admit that I don't find myself too focused either! I am a good dipper into - apart from novels!
Yes, snap!! It has a better ring than 'don't stay focused'!
I only read novels for bedside reading, also have a diary-type book and a pencil to write in it before I turn off the light!
Which would be your favourite?!
Well spotted! I have a copy upstairs and one downstairs!
Well seen!
Is that because of time constraints or because you don't like reading?!
Oh OK, I needn't feel sorry for you!!!!
