Many friends have read my book based on my dad's WW2/PoW diaries kept at The Second World War Experience Centre, a museum/archive dedicated to preserving the testimony of people who lived through WW2. This week, 21st June, sees 76 years since his capture at Tobruk. My book is now reviewed in the Centre's journal 'Everyone's War'. Naturally I am very happy to have this review. And I've realised that today is Father's Day!
Lovely to post this on Father's Day. Your dad was such an interesting man - both ordinary and amazing at the same time. Such an insight into life of the era from his diaries.
@quietpurplehaze Ha, yes, I wonder! It has always struck me how the wars were fought for us not by professional soldiers mostly but ordinary people who "did their bit." But that makes them amazing to me. Must wrest the book from hubby so I can finally read it properly.......I've only had snippets!
Wendy, thank you and for taking the trouble to read it - best I could do with the small print!
Thank you! Perhaps ‘ordinary and amazing’ we might all like to be! Wonder what he would say to that ?!
