Although Jenny Joseph who wrote the poem WARNING died in January this year, her memory lives on through such lovely ladies as these who do love to dress in purple with red hats.
"When I am an old woman
I shall wear purple
with a red hat
which doesn't go...."
I saw these ladies at Norfolk Lavender and, seeing that they had finished their refreshments, I approached their table and explained my interest in WARNING and purple - and red - and asked for a photo.
They were all very happy, enjoying themselves which is the aim of the Red Hat Society.
"Live, Love, Laugh
Or - how to grow old disgracefully..."
What a wonderful find at the tea rooms and all willing to be photographed, your images are beautifully captured and presented, in Lincolnshire we had a saying "red hat no D****" so be very careful which society you join Hazel:)
Was just going to say you should join Hazel! Sounds a fun group to be part of! I never knew that poem had a title of Warning but I do love it! Love this collage of the red hat ladies!
Great collage! @casablanca brought your portraits to my attention. I find it so brave of you to go up to people and ask them if you may take their photo! Is their a learning curve?
Jacqueline, thank you for your visit and comment. I admit I have never found it really brave to ask folk for a portrait. I have photographed 146 strangers now and around 10% of that number have said no thank you, their right and I accept that. I've met some lovely people and heard some amazing stories. @casablanca
You have captured these purple hat girls beautifully in this collage Hazel :) I belong to a group here so must get a photo on our next outing! You'd love it Hazel so i hope you can find a group near you - or you could always come over and join us!!!! fav
What a colourful collage. I think you would fit in really well with the Red Hat Society Hazel. There is a red hat society in our area and they have a fabulous time.
Lovely colourful collage
