Nicely arranged still life. D H Lawrence comes and goes out of fashion... mainly the latter. I briefly lived in Eastwood and was born and bred in Nottingham, so I'm quite familiar with the settings for (and the language of) many of his novels. He has never gone out of fashion with me! The Rainbow is up there with my favourites. I read it again every couple of years or so, along with Women in Love. You have reminded me that I haven't seen my volume of his poems for quite some time ... maybe I lent them to someone or they were a casualty of a house move? If you want heavy try one of his contemporaries (-ish) Ford Madox Ford. I am currently reading (and struggling to get really stuck into) No More Parades. it's tough going when I need a dictionary by my side when I read a novel!
David, I think I'll leave the heavier reading to you! Btw an iPad is quicker than a dictionary. My copy of Lady C disappeared and came to light in my (then teenage) daughter's wardrobe.....
@quietpurplehaze ...... good idea especially as my fingers struggle to turn proper pages these days! They don't care much for tapping screens either, but I can use a stylus. Not sure how to cope with the shutter release button on any of my cameras. As for Lady C, I have only read it a couple of times in all these years... OK but far from being my favourite. Maybe I should give it one more go. I wouldn't think that any of my boys would have slipped the poetry book into a wardrobe!
I understand and sympathise/empathise David. I have had my iPad for a good while now but still get in 'typo' type muddles with it - perhaps partly due to a slight motor control problem caused by taking lithium for bipolar - no way round it, have to take it and I take it out verbally on the iPad! It's still much easier and quicker than a dictionary though.
Issi, thank you. Stuck for orange flowers!
Book. Lovely capture
Yes, so he was! I read most of his novels in my teens - find them a tad heavy now!
