I am addicted
to my Sony a6000
to photography
to purple
Recently walking much distance has become, shall we say, tedious - because of osteo arthritis. I already have a range of boring strategies - no sugar, TENS machine, exercises etc etc - but something more was needed.
So I borrowed Ray's rambling pole to try and now I have bought my own - purple, of course.
I had worked out how to simultaneously wield a camera and a pole but when we had a walk at Lee on Solent yesterday, the sea breezes presented yet another challenge!
Lovely image you seem well sorted for a morning walk, just a point of interest you may find it better to use two hiking poles,
Using two poles enables you to use your whole body while walking
and facilitates better posture which helps people with balance problems, its just a thought Hazel, although you would not be able to hold your hat on in the wind, lol:)
Sorry to hear about your walking problem Hazel. I am in need of a knee replacement now and walking has become very difficult and painful but I use my rollater (walker) all the time now .If I need to use my Canon I sit it on the seat in its bag and my lenses are in a bag under the seat in the basket. I can stop and sit and change lenses take photos etc. quite easily. Saves the effort of carrying heavy kit whilst using a walking stick.
Wendy, and I am sorry to hear about your knee. I think I shall try using one pole for a while as I have only just got it but I’ll bear in mind what you say. ( I had never imagined being excited about getting a purple walking pole!)
I am loving your purple walking pole! Our boy has some too - he is also addicted to purple! We just purchased him a posh leather armchair and he selected the colour from the swatches......purple of course! Good for you to have built strategies for managing the OA. Proud of you for not giving up and staying home, but working out how to still do things. Very impressed.
Good to see up close the camera that works so hard taking your people photos. These light weight poles are so handy...just that little bit of help is invaluable. I have two like this that you can alter the length. I don’t use them but have them just in case one day.
Pam, it's definitely easier for walking. I got a pole, rather than a walking stick as a stick has a handle which would be a bit in the way when wielding the camera as well. Funny isn't it that I don't mind using the pole away from our area but have yet to use it locally as I don't want people coming up and asking what's the matter.
Lovely purple....I'm rather fond of it too.
I have a couple of friends who use two walking poles so I recognise some of the suggestions above.
Mr B is finding a difference in his knee osteoarthritis since taking organic turmeric (with black pepper and ginger.) Just sharing 🙂
Thanks for the share. I take root ginger infusions. I did research turmeric but found contra indications regarding bipolar disorder. I might look at it again/ run it past my GP. Can you give details of the supplement please? Good for Mr B!
No his is boring black!
Sharon, thank you so much. I have had years of managing bipolar disorder and I'm treating the osteoarthritis the same way!

Peter, I am sure that's very good advice and thank you (and I will bear it in mind) - but how would I take any photos then?!
Maybe a miner’s helmet with the camera on it like a light?!!

William, that’s a comment guaranteed to cheer me up, thank you!
You look very relaxed on this photo.
😍. Thank you very much for your vote of confidence!

How do you use the camera?

A purple leather armchair sounds ace and I can tell that your boy has impeccable taste. Thank you so much for kind and encouraging words!
So kind.
Oh yes, hadn't really thought of it as multi tasking - makes it seem special, thanks!
Sarah, can you say the name of the supplement Mr B is using, please?
