My last post of Jinks in this mini-series; he is ready in the car to go to our trusty and welcoming dog sitters, taking at least one friend with him.
He seems to also be taking a bunch/pot of lavender - very thoughtful.
Our first step in booking a foreign holiday for ourselves was always to see if Pam and Dave were available to look after Jinks.
I remember the first time we went round to their place and I was a bit worried about a part of the garden, knowing Jinks' Houdini tendencies. It was soon blocked off and made secure.
When we used to collect Jinks after holidays there was sometimes a little tale to tell.
I remember one in particular: one day Pam could not find Jinks anywhere, despite scouring the house and garden, calling his name at the top of her voice, making doubly sure all exits were closed.
Eventually she came across him, fast asleep under the apple tree............not a care in the world!
So many happy memories in spite of his tendency for adventure which worried you at the time , but now they are part of the love and fondness you had for this sweet little rogue !
I can just imagine the responsibility of looking after someone’s beloved dog!
Jinks was so good at escaping it’s a wonder they took him on!! It’s making me feel quite nostalgic for poor little Jinks....it’s lovely looking back at memories but you must miss him still.
I had to stop this series now as it was making me a bit sad and feeling not too good. One dogsitting outfit did express worries about taking on Jinks. It was not a problem in the end as I took a dislike to the woman who might have had him and decided to cancel the booking. (You may find this curious but she reminded me of one of the bossy nurses in the psychiatric wing years ago. Lots of horrible things to try not to remember about that time, in addition to being very unwell.)
@quietpurplehaze Oh I’m sure Hazel....no memories of anything like that! Yes nice to look back but you mustn’t dwell...look forward to each day as you wake. You & Ray have a lovely life now so enjoy every moment! I’m unsettled about our house sale at the moment...wake in the night & cant get back to sleep for worrying! Stamp duty is going to change & might snooker us either way! Will have to pay on purchase of bungalow but may have to pay too on our house sale...... 😱
