trimming the hedge

Dave was trimming our conifer hedge, approx 25m long x 9m high, but was happy to take time out for a portrait shot for me in his work gear. (He didn't say "I've got to put my lipstick on, take bits of conifer out of my hair......")

It was a hot day for such work and he had a lad to help with the clearing-up; his partner, Simon, unfortunately fell off this very ladder ( a bit taller than the hedge) and broke his leg last week.
Lovely shots of these working lads. Poor Simon, that's not good news when it's your livelihood.

Yes, Ray wanted to do it but I persuaded him to get the experts in. If I have trouble in the future I shall quote you!

@gijsje

Bep, thanks. Is it stifling hot where you live too?

Nice portrait of Dave the HedgeTrimmer, Hazel. I guess you don't get any nesting birds in the conifer hedge and maybe it doesn't offer birds suitable shelter? If so maybe it's time to get rid of it.☹️

No nesting birds; good for human borders/privacy....

Men are much easier to photo than women I find (not that I've done any for ages!)

@fbailey

It's interesting that you say that. I always have more male than female portraits in my collection - but I thought it was for another reason altogether!

Great captures

The ladder looks quite dangerous.

Great portrait- but the ladder looks a little dangerous!

@tunia @loweygrace

Well I guess it would to us but Dave did say in conversation that accidents such as Simon falling off the ladder are bound to play a part, however small, in this kind of work.

Agree, it's the best it has ever been trimmed!

It looks like they definitely earned their money. And working on ladders can be dangerous, I hope his partner recovers well.
