the habits of robins by quietpurplehaze

the habits of robins

I was watching fluffy baby robin in the wisteria branches posturing to try to get mummy robin to feed him, and idly taking some shots.

Suddenly she had flown down to the deck and was feeding baby robin's adolescent brother, or so I thought. You can see how excited I was by the shaky nature of that shot!

A Google search of RSPB revealed that robins can have 3 broods per season.

Bay robin flew off, maybe in disgust.....
Well spotted and well times shots in this triptych Hazel - we do get excited watching nature at its best - fav

Aw I feel sorry for the baby robin. Mum obviously prefers the adolescent brother

How lovely to watch the process

Poor mom, looks like she will be relentlessly busy if she is still feeding both age groups!

Great catch! I read something about an albino robin that is about 7 years old because it hasn’t bred - the breeders only manage a couple of years.

@judithg

Oh that's interesting as I had wondered about lifespan.
