French candy by quietpurplehaze

French candy

I had a light-bulb moment when I realised that the answer to week 6 candy challenge from Dogwood 2017 was literally staring me in the face from our living room wall.

This advertising mirror from the French chocolate maker, Auguste Poulain, who began production in1848, was in a small bric-a-brac shop in our village some years ago. I rescued it and Ray mended the frame.

In searching on Google to now find more about it, I discovered that these mirrors are being offered for £40 to £60 on eBay - about x6 what I gave for it. I'd never sell it!
A wonderful find and a treausure to have on display . Great for your challenge.

A good example of familiarity breeding contempt or at least breeding lack of notice. Great capture for the candy challenge.

It's lovely isn't it?

@yrhenwr

Yes, and the colours are delicate on mine, whereas some on eBay are what my mother used to call 'garish'! Hard to photograph well being a mirror.
