How do you measure a bagpipe?

This man was going round to each bagpipe player. It looked as if he was measuring the length of the pipe. Then we realised he seemed to have items to measure sound.

How interesting and weird at the same time!

He was tuning the drones. That sounds weird, I know. The drones are the pipes sticking out the top if the bags, and if they're not in tune (with each other, the chanter, and the other bagpipes) then it's all going to sound pretty much a bunch of cats mewling. I know there are many that think that is the natural state of the pipes anyway, but it shouldn't be so!!!

@peadar

Thank you, interesting! Would never have worked that out! I like the bagpipes and there was also a young lady Scottish dancing later.

@quietpurplehaze @onewing You're welcome. You're lucky I was writing that earlier on my smartphone. If I had been on the PC I could have gone on quite a bit more... (quite a bit too much, my wife would say!)

Something you don't see everyday he must be a member of the Noise Abatement Society, after all the Bagpipes do make most unpleasant noise that lasts for such a long time, a wonderful candid capture Hazel:)
