More Angst

So yesterday's get-pushed shot was a candid one taken while wandering the streets of Birmingham. However my children are always interested in this project, particularly the get pushed challenges, and are generally keen to help. So this is a posed shot with A trying to look anxious. She was sitting on a window sill as she says this is where people sit in films when they are sad. I think she did rather well! The challenge, set by Kali, was this:
" I decided when looking at your photos of friends and family they are all nice placid happy shots and I thought maybe you could explore a darker emotion, some aggro or angst and emphasise this emotion with your processing choice, i don't mind if it is a candid shot or staged"
Processing - black and white again as i like the mood. I increased the whites to blur the background (views of my neighbours' houses). This had the advantage of highlighting A's face nicely.
Apparently if I serve peas at teatime again tomorrow she reckons she can pull off an unposed aggro shot. Maybe we'll give that a go!
@kali66 one more. Staged this time

Brilliant shot. Something id like to try. Truelly does capture the anxiety & the bw intensifies it for me

great job Rachel and A. This looks extra good large on black, you have to wonder what she could be witnessing from the window. really looking forward to the aggro about the peas lol, you have covered my brief very well so far.

Great shot!

Great idea! You could easily forget its posed and find yourself wondering what's going on in her head and troubling her? Was the focusing on the jumper rather than the eyes intentional?

@chezza @jodimuli @kimshots @vase @kali66 @jwlynn64 thanks very much for your comments; A was v pleased to read them too. @vokesy the focus was a mistake when I took it but when I was looking through them afterwards to choose the one that conveyed angst best I liked her face being slightly out of focus.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a criticism, or even a bad thing, I like the out of focus eyes in this too. Just wondering if you'd planned it that way.

@vokesy Don't worry I didn't take it as a criticism. I like the out of focus too. I'd like to be able to say I planned it but I didn't! I'm always happy to get comments like that.

Fav. The light, texture of her sweater, and in particular her hair clip make this a winner.
