Illusion of Summer by rachelwithey

Illusion of Summer

Nice and sunny this morning; not warm but sunny at least. People were sitting outside this coffee shop by the towpath.
Love the overexposed look - fantastic processing. I've been sitting staring at it for a while -really dreamy! Fav

This is perfectly over-exposed! Love the colors and the sun spots. Fav for me.

It sure makes you think of summer. Cool!

I love how this makes me feel like I'm in a hot sunny area by implication instead of explicitly.
PS -- A very long day today and will have your challenge by morning, I promise -- maybe later tonite. I liked the one you suggested for me!

It is hard coming up with a challenge for you as you have such a wonderful variety of photos and have used a broad array of techniques. Although I may have missed these, I didn't notice any where you used selective coloring. If that is because you don't have a way to do it, just let me know, but if you can, then your challenge for this week is to use selective coloring in a predominantly monochrome shot. I'll leave it open beyond that. If you can't do that because of tools, I do have a backup idea.

@taffy Hi. That's a great challenge something I've not got my head round yet but I've got Lightroom and GIMP so no reason why i can't do it. I'll give it a go.

Great processing Rachel.

Nice over-exposing - and very cool shot!

I love the bright and sunny look here, and it's even better because you've captured that person relaxing while reading in the sun. Gives such a holiday feel to it. Did you achieve this by facing into the sun?

Love the use of deliberate over-exposure - really effective! Fav.

@rachelwithey Great -- I look forward to seeing your photo(s)!

So bright! Has a great feel to it.

@dulciknit thanks for the Fav. @gailmmeek I was facing into the sun, although the umbrella was shading a lot of the sun. I used a long exposure to make it look much brighter than it was

@rachelwithey Well, it worked so well, I love the outcome.

love the sunbleached feel to this and the bokeh. This really does evoke summer and the in-the-moment way you feel then.
