On today's shot you can see how much ice has disappeared, the lake is still frozen solid ,one of the north's great mysteries!

What a wonderful shot. I read somewhere that ice melt has to do with the depth of the water but can't remember just which way it works. Are you taking bets on the ice out date?
I didn't realize until you commented about my SX50 that you were using the SX60 - wonder how much difference there is - at the rate I'm going, I may wear this one out!! Love the camera.
Looks like the lake is still frozen but the tributaries are starting to thaw. It must have to do with the depth of the water and the warmth the sun gets to it. Love the mood of this shot- I'm not sure it would be there if you kept it in color.
