Take Off! by radiogirl

Take Off!

I was so excited to be able to watch this osprey as he was protecting his nest, more photos to come!
I played around with the background, critique welcome!

Good job. I might suggest you run a levels on the back ground and lighten It was obvious to me you did a back ground as the light levels are so different. I only suggest this because you have asked.

@joansmor Thank you for the comment Joan............ can you explain how I would go about changing the levels on the background and lighten it?

fantastic! I especially love the clouds adding drama to the overall composition

I like the background but I did think it looked "added in" because the bird stands out so dramatically. I don't think it detracts from the shot but if you want it to look more natural I'd take Joan's advice. One way I would accomplish that in my program is by adjusting it with the sliders when I apply the new sky. I don't know if your program does that, but Joan might be able to explain it better than I can.

Wonderful osprey shot. I agree with Joan re the lighting of sky being off from the osprey. There is a teeny halo around the tail. And the white balance of the sky and osprey dont feel quite compatible. On the other hand, it is beautiful!

I am not sure if this is one shot or a composite, but it is amazing none the less! FAV!

@jgpittenger Thank you for your comment Jane. Just wondering how you would change the background to match the osprey? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@olivetreeann Ann thank you for your comment and advise, I was using Photoshop to add the background. What would you do to the background to make it look more natural?

great shot!
July 5th, 2017
What a fabulous shot. I love the background - dramatic like the subject - but do agree with everyone else - possibly make it a little lighter to tone in with the Osprey. Fav
July 5th, 2017
Well done

@radiogirl I'd probably have softened the focus on the clouds a little so that they appeared more in the background and darkened the overall lighting of the picture so that the bird and the sky were balanced. I see that you have adjusted that already on your second edit and it looks really good.
