Sir James Open Pit Mine in the Ontario badlands

I photographed this spot at the photography workshop I was on last weekend. This treeless zone is a unique window for viewing the ice-age landscape of the normally forested Canadian Shield. Apparently this is a fabulous blueberry picking area in the month of August!

Thank you for your comments and favs on yesterday's snow scene it was a nice surprise to see that it made it to the PP!
Amazing capture.

Beautiful shot, Kathy. Love the rustic feel. Lots of blueberries = lots of bears. I'm right behind you, honest.

Stark but beautiful in the snow- it makes me think of Norway (although I've never been there and I know this is not a fjord!).
