Curly and Straight Lines

Day 24 of b&w for the month of February. While out snowshoeing I discovered these interesting curly things growing on some of the branches, not sure what they are!

Your comments and favs are always appreciated!
While pretty I would be worried that it was some kind of parasite.

Beautiful. It is probably the seed head of a common Clematis vitalba. Here in Europe it is a normal forest plant, but I do not know about your part of the world. It is an invasive plant in many places. Imho a very beautiful plant and seedhead. Nicely photographed.
