Canadian Moose

While on an evening drive, found this tall dark shape standing on the side of the road which turned out to be a moose. We got to watch him for several minutes before Bullwinkle sauntered off into the bush!
A full grown male moose weigh over 550 kg (1200 lb) on average, and females are often more than 400 kg (880 lb). Calves weigh around 15 kg (33 lb) at birth but quickly increase in size. Height at the shoulders generally ranges between 2.1 to 2.3 m (6.5 to 7.5 feet). wikipedia

This is a time to be weary of driving the roads - at least in Northern Mains e. THe black flies drive the moose out of the woods.
