Interesting story. A young girl named Dorothy Gage passed away at 5 months old in Bloomington Illinois. Her Uncle was L Frank Baum who wrote The Wizard Of Oz books. To help his wife who had been so upset by the sudden passing of her niece he named the girl in the Oz books Dorothy after the young girl. This tree carving is from a 200 year old Oak that was dying and sits about 50 yards from the gravesite of Dorothy Gage
