Oh, I LOVE apple butter! You have been one busy gal, what with all the canning and baking. Looks delicious, I gotta tell ya. Nice still life of your creations.
@lyndemc Thank you Denise. The crockpot was so very helpful for making the apple butter, and the bread really doesn't take a lot of hands on time. Kneading done with the mixer and only one rise. @altadc Thank you Alta. It is yummy. Trying hard not to eat to much. @thewatersphotos Thank you Gary. Yes. I went to the orchard last week and bought (they picked) Stayman Winesap apples expressly for this. @olivetreeann Thank you. They are good! @s4sayer Wish you could come over and have some. @jamibann Thank you Issi. @dibzgreasley Thank you Debs. It probably is a jam/preserves of some sort. It essentially is apples, sugar, cinnamon and cloves and is cooked down then pureed. @confectioner If you have extra cooking apples it's a wonderful addition to bread, biscuits and I put it in my oatmeal yesterday morning. Thank you. @pusspup I was in the mood for it. I'd been drooling for both for a week before I got time to make them. @peterlgrave Thank you Peter. No, no chocolate. It does have sugar in it, so have to be careful not to eat too much. It's a lot like a cooked down thickened applesauce with cinnamon and cloves. @bokehdot Thank you Michelle @craftymeg Thanks Margaret @pyrrhula Thank you Pyrrhula @overalvandaan Thanks so much Saxa @cocobella Haha! (I'm chuckling at the last statement) Apple butter is cooked down apples, sugar and I used cinnamon and cloves in it. The apples are cooked with the sugar and spices until they're very soft (I used a crock pot) and then they thicken up at the end (mine actually could have been a little thicker). It can be used right away, frozen and/or canned (to preserve). I chose the first and last methods since I don't have much freezer room. My first time canning something too.
@ziggy77 Very tasty. We're ripping through it like a house afire. I love it in my oatmeal. @s4sayer Bwa ha ha! (She says, twirling the end of her moustache)
@randystreat@s4sayer What Mrs S hasn't divulged is that we've had a bumper apple crop this year and I've made loads of this which is now in the freezer.

Have to admit though I have never tasted or heard of apple butter.
