My dear friend Linda has had two hummingbirds that come to her feeder several times during every visit I've made this summer. I told her that I was going to bring my camera one time and today I did it.
Hummingbirds aren't seen in our climate. His 'toothpick' beak is a remarkable tool to access that which would be unaccessible to other species. Big fav!
Stunning!! FAV! We have counted 15 between two feeders...they fly around like a swarm of wasp. You don't dare go out there or you make get hit in the head!
@fbailey They fascinate me. The first time I saw one I thought it was some sort of large insect. @lynnz Thank you so much, Lynn @mandygravil Thank you, Mandy @novab Thanks Nova. @s4sayer Margo, they sort of summer here, but really live in Mexico or South America. Sometimes we're just on their migration path. Thank you so much. @craftymeg Thank you Margaret. Yes, they are so interesting to watch. @bigmxx Thank you Michelle @dawnee Thank you very much @pyrrhula Thank you. The birds at this feeder are somewhat relaxed and don't spook as easily as the ones that visit my feeder. @thewatersphotos Thank Gary. Only two at mine and two at my friend's as far as I know. They are difficult to see sometimes, so I may have more visiting the zinnias. I have had them "buzz" me on occasion, but then they fly off. @tunia Thank you Tunia. They notice the lights and sound. I turned my shutter sound off one day when I tried to photograph them at my feeder, but they didn't come while I was sitting there.
