they are cute and cuddly. i could probably overcome my fear of dogs if i get one, but like you, i'm not digging the responsibility; could hardly take care of myself and it wouldn't be fair to the animal.
@summerfield I would expect it would be difficult to have a dog when one lives in an apartment, too. I live on a well traveled, busy road. I'd also have to invest in a big fence. Not going there.
