Get-Pushed Challenge 478
My challenge this week was to do a photo in the style of David Hilliard (extra points for nudity!). This style didn't look to hard, it was a rainy day, so I thought ok lets go. I took some in phone camera pano shots first, but didn't like the amount of information they captured. Then I tried some with my "real" camera. Still no good. So drug out the tripod and took some real photos as if I was going to put them together in photoshop. I found out quickly going the pano route wouldn't cut it. I also found I really had to straighten and change photo sizes to get them to go together as well as David Hilliard did. So after a number of unsatisfactory tries, I finally got this one. Phew!
Perfect for David Hillard IMO even without any people. The progression from lighter area with natural light coming in the window and a glimpse of the outdoors to the darker area with the light from the one lamp standing out but not seeming to sufficiently light the area and a glimpse of dark doorway with nothing visible beyond. I love the sense of isolation/separation portrayed in the one interior.
P.S. I think up in your china closet there’s a little lamb or dog or some such animal WITH NO CLOTHES ON. I’d claim the extra points if I were you.
Well done. You have done an excellent job. It's a great outcome for a day's work. I found David Hilliard's style interesting and diverse and Mary Siegle's comment are very relevant although I struggled to see the nude dog or lamb!
I think this turned out remarkably well! I have always found his style fascinating and I think your response to it is spot on! You did a terrific job of matching the size in perspective of the three different images and blending them together into this one!
@mcsiegle Mary thank you so much for the kind comments. The lamb has "wool" (it's a Hummel) and the llama is full of hair/wool. @jamibann Thank you very much Issi. @30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks very much Jackie. @wakelys Thanks Susan. @suez1e Thank you very much. There is a lamb and a llama in the cubby under the blue ball in the photo on the right. I meant to say I got no extra points because I didn't use a nude in there at all. @pusspup Thank you Wylie. Yes a lot of try and delete and try something else and delete. @grammyn Thank you Katy. I never heard of this photographer until I started seeing the responses to the artists challenge. I thought about doing one. Glad I waited. @jernst1779 Thank you Jean. @craftymeg Thank you Margaret.
Once again you have risen to the challenge presented to you by your get pushed partner and delivered an excellent response! Ditto to Mary's assessment of the lighting- I like that progression too. As for the "nudity"- I'm glad you left the human kind out- not a big fan of going that route in photography although I studied plenty of it when I was a Fine Arts major. However, if we're going for nudity of a different kind, I'd say that a couple pieces of furniture are clothed with blankets and throws, but the high-back chair by the light is most definitely "undressed"!
@mcsiegle 😆 @thewatersphotos Thank you Gary. @olivetreeann The lighting totally went over my head. I see it now that I go back and look at the artist's photos. No one here but me for nudity and 🥴! Not what anyone would want to see. Thank you for all your support and encouragement. @haskar Thank you so much.
