I participated in a Road Scholar lecture on Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. Very interesting and enjoyable. I was humming the tunes and remember my dad, who had bought and listened to many of the earlier albums.
Just for your listening pleasure I'm including a link to one of his songs, not typical of his earlier Tijuana Brass music. It's one that I enjoy still: https://youtu.be/q7O3eYJptTc
Thanks for sharing the tune. I had one of his albums that I inherited from my mother when she moved to Guam. My college roommates and I enjoyed his music often.
My dad and Mom loved Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass. We had all the albums. My sisters and I used to dance to all the happy tunes. And we thought the lady in the whipped cream had to be one of the happiest models in the world because she could eat it after she posed. Then we learned it was shaving cream!
Thanks everyone. I guess many of us are of a certain age, because Herb Alpert & TTB had it heydays in the the early to mid 60's and started fading out of the limelight toward 1970. May have been why I seem to enjoy Latin American music.
@tunia Watched the lecture at my own home on Zoom.
