Poker on the ground! by randystreat

Poker on the ground!

We've had about 3.5 inches of rain in the past two days. Don't know if the flower head got too heavy for the stalk or if a heavy bird landed on it for a snack, but I found this stalk lying on the ground this afternoon. I liked it amid the dandelion and clover in the grass.
So pretty!

I’m sorry you lost this one, but it still gave you a beautiful photo. Is this one of the ones in your new garden?

@corinnec Thanks Corinne.
@grammyn Thanks Katy. It's still attached to the stalk and looking as good as the others. This plant is not in the garden but on the side of my house. My husband planted them there while my mother was still alive.
@shutterbug49 Thank you. They are striking blooms and the birds really like them.
@onewing Thank you. The blooms don't last all that long, especially when the birds get to them. The finches and chickadees seem to really enjoy them.
@wakelys Thank you Sue. Not sure the stalk actually broke because it still looks good.
@kjarn Thank you. It's part of the lily family but the only similarity to me are the leaves.
@rensala Thank you. It's so bright and colorful.
@koalagardens I guess. I saw none while I was down there.
@photographycrazy Thanks. My husband really liked them and planted them.
@cocokineticĀ Thank you Karen. It's different and showy but doesn't last long.
@beverley365 They are fun and the birds really like them.

It's a shame it broke, but it's still beautiful.
