@sitiodown - I got the linen texture from a free download (although I've used one in Picnik before too ) - I think associated with Photoshop Elements. If I can find the site and it seems sendable - I'll attach the url and comment to you so you can have one too. I've started saving shots of textures to make more backgrounds of my own.
@allie912 Thank you Alli - it was a multi-step process I did in Photoshop Elements - using techniques I read about in Adobe Photoshop Elements Techniques magazie (Nov. Dec. 2011). Essentially you take two images - I used the linen texture and the photo of the still life and resized, recolored and combined. I don't think it's something that could be done in Picnic, but I'd guess it could be done in a lot of other editing programs. If you have Photoshop Elements and want me to run down the details point by point, I'd try to do that if you email me at rebasundberg@mac.com. It'd take too much space here.
I was so engrossed in your picture, I forgot the time and was nearly late for my pilates class. I have been struggling with layers on Photoshop. So I really admire this composition.
@janek LOL - thanks for sharing the story of being absorbed in my pic - gives me a big smile. I can SO identify with Photoshop layers struggles. The article I worked from was written for PS Elements, but send me an email if you'd like to try to adapt it to PS and I will send you a PDF of the article. I find PS Elements quite difficult and not very user friendly, but am happy to be learning a few things about it and hope it becomes less awkward to use over time.
