One of the worst pics I’ve posted all year, but there’s a lesson here. Imagine the shock to this poor gentleman eating his waffles and chicken (yes, really) when the flash on my phone cam went off in his face, startling him and mortifying me and my friends as I tried to cooly capture his image and sew up my shot for today . . . I’d blame the wine bottle in the foreground, but I know I would do the same thing stone cold sober - back to cats, flowers, still lifes (lives?) and the occasional bridge for me. Apologies all around seemed to smooth things over and next time I’ll remember to turn off the flash before I try my sneaky shot.
I am trying not to laugh, but, am wondering if I would have gotten away with apologizing , but telling him I loved his hat and then taking another photo. I'm a little crazy that way. By the way, I do love his hat.
@swguevin - oh, it's ok to laugh. Less funny at the outset was the scene reminiscent of Deliverance when I stopped to take pics of a country fence a few weeks ago and the landowner got in his car and drove the equivalent of two city blocks to demand an explanation as to what I was up to. Big smile an apologies all around again - just admiring your beautiful fence and studying perspective . . . Do think it's best I stick to small furry animals, produce and such . . .
OH man, thanks for the laugh! I can imagine being in that situation...I'm sure I would have mumbled something about hitting the wrong button on my phone and some sort of half assed apology.....thanks for putting this one up.
You've made me laugh with this story! It's just the sort of thing that would happen to me if attempted to take a photo of someone! I'm so naff it would never work! I'm sure your next will be better though :0
LMAO!! His expression is priceless and so is your story! But what can he expect wearing a hat with a purple band and sporting a Scrooge haircut...people want a photo of that for sure! LOL
Hahaha! I have to say, I'd be massively annoyed if I were the poor lone diner, but would probably get over that the instant you opened your mouth. Better luck next time, although I'm rather fond of this shot:)
OK, that was hilarious!! That TOTALLY would be my luck! Turned out well, tho. Keep trying! I find that things like this are a good learning experience; next time you'll really remember to turn off the flash. =-)
I find this hilarious as well ~ I had a similar experience on the BART in SF when I took what I thought was an inconspicuous shot of 2 girls with furry colorful boots. But then I heard them talking about "not being a freak show for people to take pictures of" ~ I felt bad. I didn't use any flash ~ someone in the group spotted me, I guess. So rule #1 is NO FLASH, and rule #2 is don't try to get a candid with too large a group!
