Living Art

Friends and I attended the Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters last night. I was hoping for some great photos but as we entered, the ticket takers were checking bags and purses and the big sign said 'No Cameras' which you can see it on the bottom left of this shot, So, this the ONLY shot I took all evening at the entrance outdoor amphitheater. I hid my camera in my purse, threw my sweater over it and luckily no one actually inspected the contents.

The Pageant of the Arts, held every July and August, began in the 1930's and is known for it's living pictures in which classical and contemporary works of art are recreated by actors through the clever application of makeup, costumes, lighting, props and backdrops. There was a full orchestra, George Washington on a live horse rode through the venue and it was quite a spectacular evening. The final piece is always a re- creation of 'The Last Supper' by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Sounds wonderful!

We attended this wonderful event for a number of years; it's really not possible to explain it! (Haven't checked, but there's probably a Google site for it...) This image alone would heighten the anticipation if you knew what you were about to walk into! So glad you were there to enjoy it!

Went there a few years back. Should have taken binoculars. It's amazing how they do it!

Went there once....it was truly interesting. Too bad they do not allow photos to be taken....the possibilities are endless as the tableaux evolve constantly!
