Birds of a feather flock together, but have you ever wondered why they congregate on power poles at dusk, all facing the same direction? A little internet research turned up this: that they are communal, gather at a high place for safety and like to face into the wind for easy take off. They may also be gossiping about the neighbors and exchanging restaurant tips!

@taffy Thanks! I'm always intrigued by these scenes of sitting birds but usually there are ugly power lines in the way. When I saw these with the clouds behind them, I knew I had to take a shot.
Wonderful shot and great commentary!! Seriously, I think they are kvetching!! I also like seeing the sea gulls, one on top of each lamppost at dusk....need to look into that, too!
