Late afternoon on our first day at the sacred Inca site in the Fall of 2016. Today I was happy to find a few dozen photos from that trip that I had uploaded to my iPad before the media card went missing. When I got home I discovered that one of my camera cards had disappeared entirely with hundreds of photos from that part of our journey. My traveling companion also had a photo hiccup. While climbing into our inflatable boat on the last day in the Galapagos, she was hit by wave, launching her iPhone out of her backpack, into the sea. It destroyed her phone and she lost ALL her photos from the entire trip. We pieced things together by sharing shots so it worked out but it was a sad lesson. Perhaps the Inca gods had a hand in all that.
Amazing shot, sorry about all the mishaps. I don't know your circumstances in your travels, but I find it best to download photos daily, where possible. Don't mean any goofs, but you save something.
Oh gosh, that is one sorry story of photography from your trip -- just awful! This was a fabulous image and so glad it was saved. It does make me think of how amazing your photos would have been across the board. So sad! When we were there, I was using a point & shoot, and knew little about photography overall. I so wish I could go back!
