A beautiful evening-clear skies and calm waters. It finally feels like Summer.
In the distance, you can see the Queen Mary, the once grand ocean liner that carried celebrities, dignitaries and royalty on voyages that were said to be “the only civilized way to travel.” It became a troop ship during WWII, then returned to regular passenger service again in 1947. Twenty years later the Queen Mary came to the Long Beach harbor where it was transformed into a floating hotel. Today it’s a popular wedding venue and is the site of the city’s annual 4th of July fireworks celebration.
