A long shot of the herons in a tree several hundred yards away from their nest. The adults spend close to 90 percent of their waking hours stalking for food. They feed their chicks four times a day and once or twice after dark. Great Blue Herons breed in colonies close to feeding spots and set up nests in trees. Best seen large on black.
